My Top 5 Favorite Podcasts

There are a number of reasons why I listen to podcasts. Some of those reasons being for entertainment, learning, car rides, doing homework, or just having background noise. No matter what the reason, I have been a huge fan of podcasts for a while and here are my 5 favorite podcasts.

5. The Indoor Kids (Video Games)

The Indoor Kids is a Video Game podcast hosted by married couple Emily Gordon and Comedian Kumail Nanjiani. While I’m not an avid gamer, I do play from time to time and it is good to hear insight and feedback on the games that I’m interested in and that’s where the Indoor kids podcast comes in.

Whether they have a special guest or it’s just them two talking, Kumail and Emily do a fantastic job of informing you about upcoming games as well as the games they’re currently playing without the conversations ever becoming dull or mundane. If video games aren’t your thing, than this podcast probably won’t interest you but if you are a fan of video games then this is one podcast that needs to be in your playlist.

4. The Brilliant Idiots (Comedy)

This podcast is relatively new so I don’t have much to tell you about it yet. Even though it’s new, the reason it’s on my top 5 list is because of the two co-hosts of the podcast. The two hosts of the podcast are Comedian and MTV2 host Andrew Schulz and TV/Radio personality Charlamagne tha God.

Charlamagne and Schulz have worked with each other on various shows and their natural chemistry together really drives the podcast and makes it more enjoyable whether there is a guest or not. The topics of the podcast range from recent news, celebrity gossip, to relationship advice. Their brand of humor is very vulgar so I wouldn’t recommend it to kids or people who are easily offended. If you don’t fall into that category, than this podcast will keep you laughing all the way until the end.

3. The Jalen Rose Report (Sports)

“Got to give the people, give the people what they want”

If you’ve never listened to the Jalen Rose Report, you won’t understand what that quote means, so let’s move on. The Jalen Rose Report is a podcasts hosted by former NBA player Jalen Rose, and ESPN producer David Jacoby. Jalen and David break down the latest in sports and pop culture and the podcast is typically released 3 times a month.

What separates this sports podcast from the other boring sports podcasts (there are a lot of them) is Jalen Rose and the enthusiasm he brings to the podcast. Whether he is quoting rap lyrics or giving NBA players nicknames (he calls Kevin Durant “Iceberg Slim”), he keeps you informed on the current sports news while keeping you throughly entertained at the same time. If you are a sports fanatic or just a casual sports fan who just wants to laugh while hearing the latest sports news, check this podcast out.

2. Bill Burr’s Monday Morning Podcast (Comedy)

There really isn’t much to say to describe this podcast. Most of the time it’s just Comedian Bill Burr complaining about current news topics or whatever is going on in his life. That’s the main reason I like the podcast because it’s basically just weekly stand-up from Bill Burr which is a win in my book.

If you’re a fan of Bill Burr’s comedy or just comedy in general, I promise you will like this podcast.

5. Nerdist Podcast (Comedy)

These three are hilarious!

Let me just start by saying I really LOVE this podcast. Ever since I first started listening to it, I’ve been hooked.

The Nerdist podcast is hosted by the “Three-Headed Monster” of Matt Mira, comedian Jonah Ray, and Host and Nerdist founder Chris Hardwick. The podcast consists of the basic podcast formula of having a guest come in and they converse about whatever the guest is promoting and other various topics. But that isn’t what makes this podcast special.

What makes the Nerdist Podcast my favorite podcast is what’s known as the “hostful episodes” which consists of just Chris, Matt, and Jonah just catching up with each other for about an hour. That’s where the real comedy comes from. Since all three are comedic backgrounds, when it’s just those three talking on the podcast, you’ll be hard pressed to find a hostful episode that won’t have you laughing until you’re in tears.

If you’re a fan of comedy in any way or even if you aren’t, you need to listen to this podcast.
