My Lazy Rant: Anime Filler episodes

When it comes to Anime in general, I rarely have any issues. However, I do have a major problem with a common thing that long running anime series with 100+ episodes under its belt tend to do a lot.
One word….FILLERS!
If there is one thing that I would change about anime, it would be the ridiculous amount of fillers that a lot of these series continue to put out. When it comes to fillers episodes, I think it’s safe to say that Naruto is the KING (Believe It). Not only did Naruto have filler episodes, but they had filler ARCS! Now, if a series goes away from the story a little bit, I’m fine with that; But half of the time, the fillers have literally NOTHING to do with the story whatsoever. Now, I might not be up to date on what it takes to become Hokage, but I’m pretty sure fighting an Ostrich and a boxing kangaroo have nothing to do with it.
Dragonball Z fillers were just as bad, but the show tricked you into thinking you weren’t watching fillers. DBZ would always have fights last for about 10 episodes when they really only needed to be two or three episodes max. The way the series dragged out all of their fights was not only unnecessary, but it was really annoying. Take for example the fight between Gohan vs Cell; I can’t even remember how many episodes that fight took to end, but I remember it having to be at least 7. The funny thing is that if you take out all of the crap in between the actually fight, it only lasts about 24 minutes.
Case Closed was no better than the others. The show would have random cases that had nothing to do with Conan trying to become an adult again and was just wasting time. What was even worse was when they would have cases that involved those stupid a** little kids that did nothing but annoy the crap out of me.
Now, before anyone gets the wrong idea, I’m not saying all filler episodes or arcs in anime are bad, it’s just the frequency of the fillers is the part that irritates me more than anything else.
But seriously, an Ostrich? Come on, Bro!
I completely understand! There were some filler episodes or arcs that I liked for example Inuyasha had a few filler episodes that I loved because they were so funny. But Bleach had some filler arcs that I really didn’t like and found very boring.
Yea, I heard someone say that Bleach was like 40% fillers which sounds crazy but it scared me away from watching anyway.
They had one filler that I did like but there were definitely a few that were really boring. But once you get pass that it was a very good show.
